Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is one of the greatest of great Indians. He does not belong to any particular community or region. He had himself declared this at Karamsad [his birthplace] soon after the dawn of independence. Further, he was for equality of one and all in India and the world. He supported upliftment of down-trodden, and those who were victims of exploitation for centuries. It is noteworthy that it was also the Great Sardar who played the vital role in abolishing provisions related to reservation on the basis of religion, which was one of the main causes behind the division of India in 1947.
